Employment Services

Prevocational Services

Prevocational services provides hard skills employment training necessary to gain employment in the community.

Hard skills employment training- a person will have hands on learning of a job

    • Light manufacturing
    • Inspecting
    • Collating
    • All aspects of mailings
    • Other various tasks

Jobs are solicited from area industries with time-studies being done to standards. It's a "win-win" arrangement which provides a variety of challenging tasks to participants who are paid commensurate wages, and for customers who receive quality products and services. "It's just good business to do business with Handishop" is the attitude customers share. Proof of the payback to efforts in quality control can be seen by the large amount of repeat business enjoyed with customers. 

  • During the first 30 days of enrollment a detailed assessment will be completed, determining skill levels.
  • Upon completion of the assessment a meeting will be held with the participant and their support team to create goals that will assist the participant in meeting their end goal of community employment.
  • Each participant will have a rehabilitation counselor who is trained to provide counseling and training for a person to excel in a work setting.


Employment Skills Services

Soft skills employment training- a participant learns personal skills that will help them become employable.

    • What is responsibility?
    • What is integrity and how do I get it?
    • What is teamwork?


ERP (Employee Readiness Program)

This program is designed to enhance employability.  Participants enrolled in this program will be accompanied by a trained staff member to local businesses to participate in instructional classes and job exploration.


Supported Employment

This service embraces individuals with disabilities and their desire to attain meaningful employment with competitive wages.  Our trained staff will assist a person in finding the correct fitting job and will also provide ongoing supports to employers and the individuals to help facilitate a successful employment opportunity.


Transportation is available to all participants.
